You and I I don’t know if it’s the way you walk I don’t know if it’s the way you talk I don’t know if it’s the way you see But that’s just me I don’t know if it’s the way I feel I don’t know if it’s the time I steel I don’t know if it’s the way you do, but that’s just you Chorus: You and I, and all of those nights We went to London and we missed our flights We’ll hang tide, through all of those nights We’ll stay in Paris and we’ll be just fine I won’t know if it’s the way we left I won’t know if it’s the time we kept I don’t know if it’s the time of day That made me stay I don’t know if it’s the way I feel I don’t know if it’s the time I steel I don’t know if it’s the way you do But that’s just you Chorus: You and I, and all of those nights We went to London and we missed our flights We’ll hang tide, through all of those nights We’ll stay in Paris and we’ll be just fine Ohohoho You and I Ohohoho You and I Ohohoho You and I, we’ll be fine Now I don’t know how do deal with this How you took off in that wave of mist I’ll move on ‘cause that’s what you insist Heaven help me to get over this Chorus: You and I, and all of those nights You went to heaven and you caught your flight You’ll be fine through all of those times You’ll stay in heaven and you’ll be just fine Ohohoho You and I Ohohoho You and I Ohohoho You and I, we’ll be fine You and I, we’ll be fine
By yon bonnie banks and by yon bonnie braes, Where the sun shines bright on Loch Lomond Where me and my true love were ever wont to gae, On the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. Oh! Ye'll take the high road, and I'll take the low road, And I'll be in Scotland afore ye, But me and my true love will never meet again, On the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. 'Twas then that we parted, In yon shady glen, On the steep, steep side of Ben Lomond, Where, in purple hue, The highland hills we view, And the moon coming out in the gloaming. The wee birdies sing, And the wild flowers spring, And in sunshine the waters sleeping. But the broken heart it kens, Nae second spring again, Though the waeful may cease frae their greeting. .......................................................................................... The song was apparently written by a young soldier to his sweetheart. Two of Bonnie Prince Charlies soldiers were captured in Carlisle after the abortive rising of 1745. One wrote the song, the other was released and took it back to Scotland to give to his colleagues sweetheart. The low road refers to the soldiers impending death and the path of his spirit, whilst the high road is either the sign of hope for which he sacrificed his life, or the actual road back to Scotland over the high rugged hills. Hence, his spirit would return via the low road and be back in Scotland first.
I DON’T SLEEP ANYWAY
There’s a man with a book and he’s asking the pages What went wrong There’s a bird in the clouds it’s been up there for ages Come on down There’s a picture of angels that follows the strangers Back to their holes Here’s a shirt with no buttons They’re scattered all over the floor chorus: Its not very tidy war is over And nobody’s fighting by the river And I don’t need to rest I’ve never been blessed But my eyes were and I I don’t sleep anyway There’s a saint and a crook and they’re fighting bout wages Where I’m from And the sister of mercy’s been wearing my jersey All along There were pictures of demons and truckloads of free men All pretty strong There’s a mouth with no teeth and you can’t grow them back Anymore
He sat down at the wrong end of this town As she looked at him he could feel the frown Darkening his face like the nightfall Mmmmmmmmm There was a little ray of happiness falling form her face Lifting all the heaviness in heavenly embrace Opening his eyes to the rainfall Still he’s in blind lights glare He’s not going anywhere (chorus) He saw Juliet walking over to Macbeth The butler went to paradise he downed his drink and left As he stumbled along he drowned another song singing Merry Xmas to you (x3) He had a little bit of everything but nothing all at once A heart he didn’t take to and lack or real response Disregard the times he’s been mistaken A repertoire that’s gone to far two fires burn A ship that sails across the sky without a stern Steer him in I think he might be breaking Oh and hindsight scares His thoughts are everywhere (chorus) x 2
SHE COMES AND GOES
She sits alone she probably knows That everything is over Squeezed into boxes she won’t show So nobody can own her Into the night She comes and goes and no one knows The ceilings she has counted Ticked off in boxes that she’s made In books that she’s amounted Into the night (chorus) She comes and goes And no one’s gonna change her mind She comes and goes And no one’s gonna leave her behind But everyone will find her She waits alone and there she goes to keep another finder The way it goes and what she shows will never let it blind her Hotel room tables has no homes And constantly reminds her Into her night (chorus) Lonely, she’s never been like this before So lonely, she’s out of her mind without you Lonely (chorus)
I SHOULD’VE BEEN SMILING
I want you but what do you do You came here only in the morning Am I that boring You want me but what do you see I come here only for attention You new invention (chorus) You took the best of me And I took my time You took the rest of me And I love, should have been I should have been smiling I want you but what do you do You come here only for forgiveness What time do you call this You want me but you would agree I come here only for affection Lost my intention (chorus) Oh now you took you time Took your love on the longest drive and you Took my down, hung me up, Out to dry I should’ve been smiling (chorus) I TRY
I’m standing on a falling mountain They’ll never ever know I’m swimming in a boiling fountain I’m gonna have to go I’m trapped between two mirrors and I see myself in myself in myself It goes on for miles (x2) And I try (chorus) I know I can be strong Lord I know this I know where I went wrong I know this Cause I’ve tried Without you by my side I’m sailing on my silver lining They’ll never ever know I’m trapped beneath this thing that I’m in I’m gonna have to go I’m trapped between two mirrors and I see myself in myself in myself It goes on for miles (x2) And I try (chorus)
It’s been wrong from the start No one’s to blame Left with you heart And nothing’s the same And I’ve been kissed by the devil To many times No need for you chimes No room for my lies And I’ve never been here before Down on this floor Anyway not that I can remember It’s just that I thought is was me You see? I thought that is was just me You see? And I’ve never been this adored I’ve been floored My God, you should’ve seen this They’ll never believe us I’ve never been here before You’ve never been this adored You’ve been floored My God, you should’ve seen this Only we will need us You see? Only we will need us You see? MISS MONROE You came into temptation holding the burden of places you knew Facing rolling embracing demons you knew Who comes back at you He went out of his way to keep them at bay without raising a storm Rows of ants in your closet you should’ve known its losing its form Fallback into different places watching you grow like Miss Monroe (chorus) What’s to do and what’s with you I suppose you’ll find your way back home Your way back home (x2) Pack up all your belongings boxes of filth clutters your style Takedown portraits so shiny nowhere to hide it goes on for miles It’s slowly moving not rolling but smooth in the grooves that you know who stares back at you I’ll help you pack up helps me to clear out the ways that I go and the ways that you known Fallback into different watching you grow like Miss Monroe (chorus) (chorus)
When did I go to sleep You tell me Was I in to deep Let me see I belong on a freeway Who knows where I belong in a Friday That is where (chorus) NA NA Where did you go to sleep You tell me Were you in to deep Let us see You belong on a runway Who knows where You belong in a Sunday There and only there (chorus) We don’t always know the time of day We don’t always where just where to stay (chorus)
